The South African Football Players Union hosted a successful National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Johannesburg yesterday. The NEC was attended by delegates from different Premier Division (Absa Premiership) and National First Division (NFD) teams. The delegation engaged, over two days (22 – 23 May 2015), in the operations of the union – diagnosing the current prevailing economic, political and social conditions and mapping the way forward. A representative from SARS was allowed a few minutes to engage the delegation on Taxation, in an attempt to educate the players on how to manage their income and stay on the safe side of the law.
In another execution to advance financial literacy to football players, John Manyike, Head of Old Mutual SA Financial Education also addressed the delegation and further illuminated the SAFPU ON THE MONEY Programme. The General Secretary, Thulaganyo Gaoshubelwe, and the Treasurer, Gordon Maseko, delivered Secretariat and Treasurer’s Reports respectively
