The South African Football Players Union hosted its first SAFPU On The Money Workshop, a financial literacy partnership with Old Mutual. Participating out-of-contract players from the 2015 SAFPU Winter Tournament were present, along with their coaches – former professional footballers now UEFA B Licence holders. The head of Financial Education at Old Mutual, John Manyike, conducted the workshop, taking the attendants through the Five Secrets of Money Management.

As described on the Old Mutual website, “The programme is based on the behaviours of South Africa’s Big Five animals. The unique characteristics of the Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo, as found in nature, have been distilled to teach us on how to manage our personal and family finances. The workshop was concluded with positive feedback from the participants.
