The South African Football Players Union would like to commend SAFA for their decision to recall , Kamohelo Mokotjo ,May Mahlangu, Thulani Serero and Ayanda Patosi into the Bafana Bafana setup. This is the right time to call them back, seeing that our national team had somewhat lost its spark since the ban of these players. The decision was wrong and baseless; not to mention the fact that it was taken for the benefit of certain individuals, not the country. We hope that SAFA has learned from this experience that emotions need to be put aside when dealing with problems of the country, particularly Bafana Bafana – among others.

Every player has the right to represent their country and it is their responsibility to honour all call-ups. SAFA denied these players their right to do so. Everyone knows that it is every player’s dream to represent their country. SAFA officials must always remember that they are serving the interests of the nation, not their own. We warmly welcome the four boys back to the national setup and wish all the players who have been selected to represent the country in the next two games against Swaziland and Nigeria the best of luck. We also welcome Itumeleng Khune back from injury.
